Flaag is open for public beta

June 12 2009

Fla.ag is a corporate intranet and knowledge management tool.

Individuals can use their companies email to: join the network of the company on the website (if it already exits), or create a new network for their company. They can share documents, ideas, and discussions, ask for information and create forums to discuss plans, collaborate on tasks, monitor progress, and socialize! Every network is encrypted at the business level and is private to your company, no one outside it will be able to see or log in to what is shared or discussed inside it and everything is saved in secure servers.

The site is very user-friendly. It looks like any other social network website and gives the users a familiar feeling of famous websites (everyone can use facebook!) with similar features. Anyone can easily and instantly add applications. With the applications platform, a user or a developer can create virtually any application; as simple as a chat room or online meetings and video conferencing to more complex database applications like secure Human Resources databases. There are virtually no limits to what can be added to the network.

Fla.ag API

May 14 2009

As previously discussed, we have written an iPhone application for fla.ag. This iPhone application uses an API that we have exposed and that we will expose externally in the future.

The API currently has endpoints for performing the majority of actions on fla.ag, such as:

  • Activity Feeds
  • Notifications
  • Connections (add/remove/list)
  • Members
  • Groups (add/edit/remove/list/discussions)
  • Events (add/edit/remove/list)
  • File Uploads (folders/groups/events)
  • Messaging (compose/reply/list)
  • Search

In future we will be continuing development of the API and exposing it publicly so that companies can use it to integrate with their other applications.

The API uses the OAuth authentication protocol and is currently in full use in the iPhone application.

When we are ready to release the API and full documentation, developers can sign up to create applications around a company’s data inside fla.ag

Among the uses we see for the API, some of which are currently in development, are:

  • Desktop client for fla.ag
  • Blackberry client for fla.ag
  • Google Apps for Domains integration
  • Salesforce Integration

I’m sure you can all come up with many more.

Best
Dave

We are in the final stages of completing the http://fla.ag/ iPhone application so I thought I would share with you a few screenshots.

The iPhone application aims to allow you to complete as many site functions as possible but there will be a few features left for future versions.
